If you have run out of a medication and cannot wait:
Telephone your pharmacy today. A pharmacist can usually give you a short supply — often about a month — to cover you until we can see you. This is a stop-gap, not a full renewal, so you will still need an appointment.
If you feel unwell, call HealthLink BC at 8-1-1, or go to the nearest emergency department.
If your medication simply needs renewing — you are running low, or the prescription has run out — this is not the right page.
Renewals need an appointment. We treat every renewal as an opportunity to check that the medication is still the right one for you, that the dose is still right, and to deal with any concerns or side effects you may have. Please book a visit.
If you will run out before your appointment, your pharmacy can give you a short supply to bridge the gap. Book first, then ask the pharmacy to cover you until the appointment.

A missed prescription can only be corrected against a recent visit.

If it was not discussed, it was not missed — it needs to be reviewed properly.

Your pharmacy can see exactly what was sent and when. Please check with them before contacting us — it is usually the fastest way to sort this out.

Your pharmacy can look up your record and tell you immediately whether a prescription was sent, when it was sent, and how many repeats remain. That one telephone call usually settles the question.
If the pharmacy confirms they never received it, come back to this page and we will take it from there. If it turns out the prescription has simply run out, you will need an appointment for a renewal.
